| "G. (no relation to Kenny G) has a voice bristling
with confidence and chops, and writes foursquare tunes in the vein
of Bruce Hornsby and the Michael McDonald-era Doobie Brothers, but
then some on the theme of love-is-the-answer and society befuddles,
as in "Loony Bin." A bit of the R&B-esque heat of Bryan Ferry's
"Love Is a Drug" pops up on "Dependent Luv," closing with the emotive
anthem "Battle Hymn." He draws on some of the area's fine musician
crop, including the versatile guitarist Dan Zimmerman, who gets
some choice licks in, but mostly just uses his subtle sense of how
to complement a song." (Walt Rego) |
